Detecting vaginal colonization by Group B streptococcus (GBS) in pregnant women is the most effective strategy to prevent neonatal infections. Worldwide, official guidelines recommend a screening of GBS between the 34th and 38th weeks of pregnancy, thus allowing for an appropriate preventive managment of intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis.

CHROMagar Strep B is a powerful screening tool, with enhanced features, when compared to classical culture media tests: - easier reading thanks to a highly specific and sensitive mauve colony colour - detection of also non-haemolytic strains - results in 18-24 h - incubation in aerobic atmosphere
